Some Things to be Avoided on Marketing

Some Things to be Avoided on Marketing ImageWhen you access a new market and structure market strategy, the last things you want to do is see it fail. Often, some brilliant marketing campaign end up failing cause of silly and simple mistakes made when rolling out a campaign. To avoid the same things happensto you, take a few minutes to learn about the most common mistakes that often derail sales and marketing efforts, and do everything you can to avoid making them yourself.

*1). Do not sell to the wrong person. That may be easier to blindly send out marketing literature to all list of companies or contacts. But not all people out there are not the right tyoe of person for your marketing campaign. Do not waste precious time and money to communicate with them. After you have your list of contacts, remove the obvious mismatched and tailor the list to the person or company that you know are more interested in your service or product. You may have a smaller list, but at least it is an accurate list.

*2). Do not forget to edit before you press the “Send” button. The same goes for offline marketing – do not forget to check your text before you send it to the printer or send it out directly to potential customers. Make sure that all spelling, grammar and punctuation are correct before sending out your marketing materials. Forgetting to do it can undermine your champaign.

*3). Do not blame the customers. Mistakes sometimes happen and errors can be made. Sometimes there is down to confusion that caused by both the provider and the customer, and sometimes it is down to the provider. Customers are usually a lot to forgive, as long as you admit to a mistake or confusion made on your part. But they are not very forgiving if they are inadvertently or obviously blamed for something that they did not do.

*4). Do not ignore the customer disappointed or anger. Customers can get a little rough when they are angry, it happens to us all. Ignoring them can only make the situation worse. When you have an angry or disappointed customers your top priority must be to make them happy again- whatever that needed.

*5). Treat each customers personally. It can be hard to remember that every customer is an individual and not just another sales conquest for you and your company. But each customer is a person, even if they represent the company, and they want to be treated as such. Make sure you send out letters to individual contacts, spell their names correctly and when you speak on the phone, make sure you know who to ask for by person, not the job tittle.

6). Do not forget to change with time. It is easy to fall into the trap of continuing to roll out the same marketing campaigns and materials time after time again. But one of the largest element of the marketing strategy should be to review the strategy regularly to ensure that it is effective, and to put into place changes when you feel that the campaigns no longer work.
