Delegation of Responsibility ImageDelegation does not mean that you assign the task to someone and give them some instructions. Effective delegation must empower employees to take the responsibility and execute the work.

Effective delegation also depends on the work culture and the ethics followed by the work group. The employees and managers should be accountable and responsible for their actions.

When the manager assigns the tasks. He or she must make sure that the employees who has been delegated the task has understood what is needed and know to go about as well as is equipped to meet the task. After this is done, the manager should not go about make any further changes in the delegated tasks.

If an assigned task is repeatedly changed,taken back, re-issued or modified time, it can disturb the concentration of the employee and may lead to the failure cause of too many distractions. In such cases the responsibility of failure will lie with the manager and not the employee.

Together with the delegation of responsibility comes authority. The authority given by the manager means that employees is authorized to use the resources at his disposal and make the right decisions that is binding on the organization.

If the employee is fully responsible, you can expect them to take all actions as well as take the necessary initiative to own and complete the various tasksas well as continue to run the project even in the absence of a manager or supervisor.

As long as the end result what is needed to be achieved is clear to the employees, you should let him / her devise their own  methods to accomplish the task and give them the freedom to proceed. All you need to do is to be there only in case they need your input on certain issues. Otherwise you must just stand by and allowing him to go ahead with his plan and execute.

Employees who have participated in this project will make a mistake, for it is human to err. But as management you must be tolerant and allow them to make mistake as well as correct their mistakes. After learning by making mistakes and it is also a fact that no one can work without making any mistakes.
